Family policies
What families ask before a child starts, in the school's own words.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
A child with a fever, a stomach illness or a rash a doctor has not seen stays home until they have been well for a full day. If a child becomes ill at school, we call you right away, and a guide stays close until you arrive.
Drop-off and pickup
A guide greets every child at the front door. At pickup, a child goes only with the people on your list, and we ask for ID at the door until we know you. The morning classes end at noon and the school day at 3:15 p.m.
Late pickup
If you are running late, call the school and we will keep your child with a guide until you arrive. Please call as early as you can.
Meals, snacks and allergies
Children set out and clear a snack each morning. Families send lunch for the school day, and a water bottle. Tell us about allergies at the tour; we ask privately once you enroll. We ask families not to send nuts.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close on school holidays, for about a week in late December and a week in spring. When snow or ice closes the roads, we send a message to families by 7 a.m.
What to wear and bring
Clothes a child can manage alone, and shoes a child can put on without help. Please send a full change of clothes in a labeled bag, and a coat and boots in cold weather: the garden is used every day.
Leaving the program
We ask for a month's notice in writing before a child leaves. We would like to talk with the family first and plan the last weeks together.
